Even in the first few days, newborns tend to change drastically as they develop in their new environment. The vernix slowly sinks in, their hands and feet start to peel to reveal fresh skin, their belly button clamps fall off, they develop milk dots on their tiny noses, and they get milk blisters on their pouty lips. These tiny baby details are a huge treasure!

Capturing those little baby details is a big part of a newborn session because it stops time exactly as they are, and gives you that memory forever. The macro portraits are rarely the ones that get printed large to decorate the walls, but they are included in every newborn session. Most like to incorporate them into their portrait album or on a photo cube for the nursery, and others like to include them as part of a framed collage.
However you decide to cherish these first fleeting moments, don’t forget the little things. Here are a few of my all-time favourites of tiny baby details from my past newborn sessions to give you a little inspiration.

How do I book a photo session?
We’d love to capture your growing family and new baby moments. Use the contact page to send a message to set up a pre-session consultation so we can customize your experience. Maternity Portraits are the most flatteringly captured between weeks 26-36, Newborn Photography Sessions are best held within the first 2 weeks from birth, and Mommy&Baby portrait sessions are typically within the first month after baby is born. Baby Photos are best captured to celebrate a milestone (tummy-time, sitting, standing, etc.).
